Shame

I wondered briefly
Chiefly concerning
Discerning madness
Classless vagrants
Paid rent, but grim times
Late fines and cheap words
Herds of mismanaged men
When what’s left is less
Best to leave it to those
Pose a question of integrity
Economy is withering, but the suits
Loot the bank, stark fear, fervor
Curbs stained with the pain
Blame it on the parents, not the teacher
Feature headline, two dead after mis-fire
Liars walk the street, plague of insanity
Humanity, cradled, coddled by mis-truth
Ruthless, fearless, bloodshot toddler
Took her by the throat, no one answered
Transferred to an empty room, light switch
Itch in her brain, tumors the only thing growing
Row in her school, kids watch like it's normal
Formal to beat your neighbors face in
Face it, we’re done as a race and
Our last prayer answered
Cancer to end a global mind-set of hate
Fate to fit the shame, let it rot
Pot to fill his feeble mind with hope
Rope, to end the self-esteem
Steam stays bubbled
Rubble, once an infant
Mint condition, provision, varnished
Tarnished by diffidence, apathy
As we see, justly musty, sorrow
Borrowed time, leased alacrity
Mentally stitched to help swallow
Follow your doctor's orders
Borders set to limit your spastic
Elastic emotions, reaching the end of clarity
It's fairly cheap to fill the bottle
Mottled kids, too young to spell their name
Change into monsters capable of swiping
Ripened to rape and destroy
Toy with the fabric of a quilt
Built to represent our deepest shit
Spit of politicians
